Meeting Guidelines

We welcome you to take part in Parents Helping Parents; however, please be reminded of these points:

  1. We are parents offering suggestions in hope of helping you. You decide what is right for you, your adolescent and your family.
  2. Please respect the confidentiality of the group in regards to our problems, our names and our children. This protection is a must if we are to be effective.
  3. Most parents will be suggesting what has worked for them. Although some ideas are unusual, please do not discredit them. Parents have found success in some of these procedures and are here to help you start making changes in your life. Some ideas are tough, but they are a reflection of love for adolescents whose behavior is unacceptable or self-destructive.
  4. Although you may hear of serious problems and major crises, one family's problems may not be as severe as another's. We are here to support each other, so be patient with all parents we all come in at different levels.
  5. We hope that when your problems are settled, you will continue with the group, sharing what you have learned and experienced. Your renewed strength will support new parents. This best defines our goal of PARENTS HELPING PARENTS.
