• A support group for parents, grandparents and guardians (children are not permitted in meetings).
  
• Emotional support to parents, grandparents and guardians through personal contact and support group meetings.
  
• Respectful of each parent's grandparent's and guardian's self-worth and ability to contribute to other parents in need.
  
• Advocates for sharing information and providing educational opportunities about the nature of substance abuse and its effects on the adolescent and their family.
  
• Support for parents, grandparents and guardians who are allowing their children to feel the consequences of their own behavior.
  
• Knowledgeable of community resources.
  
• A non-blaming, caring organization.

What We Are Not…

• A therapy group.
  
• Counselors.
  
• Politically or religiously affiliated.

• The basis of family problems is directly related to our society.
  
• Parents are also people with human feelings.
  
• Emotional and material resources for parents are limited.
  
• Adults and children are NOT equal.
  
• Parents and children are NOT peers.
  
• Blaming keeps parents powerless.
  
• Our children's behavior affects us.
  
• Our behavior affects our children.
  
• Taking a stand may cause a crisis, but from crisis comes positive change.
  
• If you are working harder than your child, QUIT!
  
• Parents need to give and receive support in the community in order to make constructive changes.
